How we check every fact

Every state page is built from 18 facts, like the deadline to sue, the minimum insurance and when you must call the police. Here is how each one gets on the page.

1. We open the official source

We use the state legislature's statute site first, then state agencies such as the insurance department, the motor vehicle agency and the state police, then a public copy of the statutes when the official site blocks access. We never use law firm pages or blogs as a source.

2. We copy the exact words

Each rule carries a short quote copied from that page, the citation and the link, so you can read the law yourself.

3. A machine opens every page again

An automatic checker reopens every source link and confirms the quote is really on the page. Anything it cannot confirm goes back for a second look.

4. If we can't confirm it, we leave it out

Right now 897 facts are confirmed and 21 are left off the site because no official source settled them.

5. We date everything

All facts on the site were checked on September 17, 2026. Laws change, so each page links to the source for you to confirm.
